Half a billion dollars to update the Aust War Memorial
The Australian War Memorial in Canberra is to undergo a $498,000,000 redevelopment which will increase visitor areas by more than 80%.
The government says the expansion is needed to accommodate new exhibits and make space to honour servicemen and women from more recent conflicts.
There has been some criticism from veterans groups that the money could be better spent and Veterans Affairs Minister Darren Chester tells Mark he understands where the concern is coming from.
