It just got much harder to stop smoking

Mike is joined by Dr. Joe Kosterich, a General Practitioner, to discuss the popularity and efficacy of vaping as a method to quit smoking.

Australians risking fines to quit illegally is supported by AIHW data indicating a decline in smoking and a rise in vaping (2019-2023). Despite a 95% harm reduction in vaping, government policies make quitting smoking harder.

Surprisingly, only 2% of teens vape regularly, dispelling the ‘gateway theory.’ Polls reveal strong public support (over 80%) for New Zealand’s legal, regulated liquid nicotine sales.

The delayed government legislation, post-Dunkley by-election, raises questions about its priorities.
