The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, one of the world’s most sacred sites, has been indefinitely closed for the first time in nearly 700 years due to the spread of coronavirus.

Michael is joined by Giselle Bader, PhD candidate & session lecturer in studies of religion at the University of Sydney, to find out about the church’s history and its importance for Christian over the Easter period.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is located in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem and contains, according to traditions dating back to at least the fourth century, the two holiest sites in Christianity: the site where Jesus was crucified, & Jesus’s empty tomb, where he was buried and resurrected.
