JulEYE is national eye health awareness month raising awareness of the need to protect against eye injury and seek attention for eye disease. 500,000 Aussies over 40 live with some form of vision impairment – by 2020 it will be 800,000.
The risk of eye injury can be minimised by the wearing of eye protection and could help reduce the estimated 30% of all eye injuries are suffered by people doing activities like do it yourself home maintenance and renovations, car repairs and gardening.
Equally seeking medical advice for eye disease could help the 1 Australian who every 65 minutes is estimated to lose all or part of their vision, since 75% of vision issues are treatable or preventable.
