Labor to drive a change to electric cars
Labor leader Bill Shorten wants half of all new cars sold in Australia to be electric vehicles by 2030.
It’s an ambitious target given that electric cars currently account for 0.2 per cent of sales, but not as radical as the NRMA which is suggesting a ban on all new petrol and deisel cars by 2025.
Paul Maric from caradvice.com.au tells Mark the issue will be establishing an adequate network of charging stations to make the targets workable.
