Lancia badge mooted to make a return to Australia but not for some time

David Berthon

Iconic Italian brand Lancia could well make a return to our shores in the next decade with a range of electric vehicles. Now under the umbrella of parent company Stellantis, Lancia is a currently undergoing a 10-year revival plan, however as reported by Automotive News Europe, company CEO Luca Napolitino recently hinted that right hand drive cars could be exported down under to Japan, South Africa and Australia. Lancia was last marketed here in the 1980s’with its Beta Coupe and Beta HPE Estate, both of which sold in reasonable numbers.

Stellantis will now focus on Lancia as one of its premium marques alongside Alfa Romeo and Citroen’s sub-brand DS Automobiles. Lancia will be revived with a new generation of its small Ypsilon city car offering a choice of hybrid and electric power, followed by a new small electric SUV in 2026 and a small electric hatchback in 2028 reviving the Delta nameplate.
