Lead advocacy group calls on government to invest in care for both veterans and their families

Gary Hardgrave

A leading advocacy group has urged the federal government to invest $3 million over the next three years on a collaborative care pilot program for veterans and their families.

Chief executive officer of Legacy Brisbane Brendan Cox says the discussion surrounding veterans and their families needs to be expanded.

“And the ‘and families’ [is] almost like a tag on to the tagline [which] is my concern,” he told Gary Hardgrave.

Mr Cox added veterans are sent back home with the care left up to their families.

“But no one is having the discussion with the family,” he said.
