Lights to go out on Gold Coast highway sign
Ever since the switch was flicked on the $2.1 million Gold Coast light installation on the M1 at Yatala it’s been a constant source of controversy.
Meant to spell out ‘Gold Coast’ in lights most motorists complained they couldn’t make head nor tail of it.
A Gold Coast Council committee has voted to tear it down and the 97 light poles at a cost to ratepayers of $255,000.
Acting Mayor Donna Gates tells Mark a final decision will be made by the full council next week.
