Local councils demand a say on poker machines
Local councils in Queensland are demanding a say in the number and locations of poker machines in their areas.
The LGAQ Annual Conference has voted 118 to 73 in favour of lobbying the state government to change legislation.
Attorney General Yvette D’Ath has given the idea a cool reception but the man behind the push, Noosa Mayor Tony Wellington, tells Mark all too often it’s local councils left to pick up the pieces from too many pokies.
