Lord Mayor doubles down on ‘no net loss of green space’ in Victoria Park

The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic infrastructure plan confirmed that a new stadium will be built at Victoria Park.

This stadium was promised by the Lord Mayor, despite the differing views from the public.

Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Adrian Schrinner, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, “We’ve had a position that’s been consistent about no net loss of green space for what’s proposed for the Olympics.”

“I think that’s a fair and reasonable claim, but having said that, what’s proposed will be a fraction of Victoria Park.”

“The construction elements that are proposed, including the stadium and the swimming complex, will only take up a fraction of the green space,” Lord Mayor continued.
