Mazda updates it’s light car range, The Mazda 2 hatch and sedan
The light car segment has shrunk over the last few years with the MG 3 the
biggest seller and the only light car now under $20,000. A surprise given it only
has a three-star ANCAP safety rating. Mazda on the other hand has just upgraded
their trusty Mazda 2 hatch and sedan with upgraded equipment across the seven
variant range and some minor styling tweaks as well a new seat design. Pricing
now kicks off with the Mazda 2 Pure manual hatch at $22,410 plus on-road costs
with the automatic Pure hatch and sedan another $2,000 – the sedan now the only
one available in the light car segment. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol motor
carries over with a choice of either six speed manual and automatic in the entry
Pure and six-speed automatic only in the other models, combined cycle fuel
consumption slightly improved on the automatic to 5L/100. I’m David Berthon
