Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 SUV, more expensive but also more impressive
Driving the latest Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV today – now just one variant the GLC
300 disappointingly $11,000 dearer to the first series at around $111,000 drive-
away, the only downside on an impressive luxury mid-size SUV – Mercedes-Benz
best seller and one can see why – a highly equipped luxury SUV that ticks all the
boxes – a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder aided by a 48-volt integrated Starter
Generator or mild hybrid system that boosts power by 17kW and torque by
200Nm and assists economy – also providing a quiet power boost when needed,
driving through all four wheels via a slick nine speed automatic gearbox. The
drive experience impressive, quiet in a cabin that’s super insulated from road
noise and refreshed with an excellent large centre touchscreen – the cabin well
laid out and on a long drive a nice place to be – with great air vents, most
welcome in the heat this week, excellent seats and whilst I’m not keen on the light
steering wheel touch controls they soon become intuitive. The Mercedes GLC
300 has impeccable handling and road manners although on some surfaces the
low profile tyres can provide a sharper ride but overall one can see why this
highly equipped Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV is just so popular. I’m David Berthon
