Moreton Bay Council send excavators to local park to remove occupants

The Moreton Bay Council advised people living in the Eddie Hyland Park that they would need to leave.

Yesterday, Moreton Bay rangers arrived at the park to tell occupants they had one hour to leave before authorities would bring excavators.

Founder of Nourish Street Beau Haywood told Bill McDonald on 4BC Mornings, “It’s not a very good situation to be in. People’s mental health has declined.”

“A lot of people [have] been trying to engage with housing for a long time now. A lot of them have been on the housing waitlist for many years.”

“They need to have some housing options in place for these people, and at this stage, there is nothing,” Mr Haywood continued.
