Nurses audit finds Qld aged care below standard
Nurses claim an audit they conducted of 83 privately run aged care homes in Queensland found unsafe conditions, chronic understaffing and elder neglect.
The Queensland Nurses and Midwives’ Union also claims none met a recommended 4.3 hours of care per resident per day.
Union Secretary Beth Mohle tells Mark it is time the federal government introduced Safe Staffing laws to ensure there is always a registered nurse on call.
