Outback Queensland farmers face devastating stock losses after record flooding

Gary Hardgrave

Farmers in outback Queensland are dealing with stock losses and devastation after widespread flooding.

Large parts of the Outback have been left underwater as record-breaking rain swept through western Queensland.

AgForce General President Shane McCarthy told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, “I’m hearing anywhere from 100% losses for some producers, 80% losses for some producers.”

“We work on such a small margin that any losses is going to be impacted to those producers, and the flow on effects through the whole production line through to the supermarkets.”

“It’s supply and demand and the price of those are of the remaining stock will go up,” Mr McCarthy continued.
