Over 65s could return to the nation’s workforce

Michael is joined by Innes Willox, Chief Executive of national employer association Australian Industry Group (Ai Group), who says policymakers needed to think outside the box to solve “huge labour and skills shortages”.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers has confirmed he is open to the idea of easing the rules around pension eligibility to make it easier for older Australians to work more without losing benefits, which could see than 400,000 people over the age of 65 returning to the nation’s workforce.
