Penalty rates and right-to-disconnect at risk as big business CEOs claim they’re outdated

Big businesses want to scrap penalty rates and the right to disconnect claiming they are outdated.

Some CEOs are even advocating for an Elon Musk-style ‘Deregulation Minister’ in Australia, but the Australian Council of Trade Unions is firmly against these changes.

ACTU President Michelle O’Neil told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, “We know who’s leading this charge and it is those big businesses.”

“It is those billionaires that don’t even wake up for more than 500 bucks an hour, these people.”

“They’re so out of touch with what’s going on and we need to make sure that working people don’t suffer because of the greed of others and that’s what we’re concerned about,” Michelle O’Neil said.
