People power puts koalas ahead of development
Residents in Mt Gravatt East have won their long running battle against plans to turn a parcel of residential blocks into a complex of 32 townhouses.
The Brisbane City Council will buy the land to add to the 400ha of native bushland its purchased in last two years to save important habitat.
The site has already been cleared by the developer but Mark Winters from the Mt Gravatt East Townhouse Development Action Group tells Mark there are already plans to restore it as koala habitat.
