Professor Ian Plimer decries claims of ‘hottest day ever recorded’
Luke is joined Professor Ian Plimer, Emeritus Professor of Earth Sciences at the University of Melbourne and the author of the upcoming ‘THE LITTLE GREEN BOOK: For Ankle Biters’, to get some clarity around claims in the last fortnight that we’ve just had the hottest day on earth ever recorded. In one of those measures, when they say ever recorded, their records go all the way back to 1979.
Professor Plimer explains In an attempt to maintain the climate narrative, the media exaggerates the impact of warm summer days, labeling them as the hottest in years or even millennia. They use fiery red backgrounds on temperature maps to amplify the perception of extreme heat.
Meanwhile, they ignore record winter lows in the other hemisphere to support their argument. This manipulation of information constitutes fraud and perpetuates climate disinformation.
For the last 50 million years, planet Earth has been cooling. We have warmed up at least 10°C since the cold dry Younger Dryas 12,900-11,700 years ago, a time when no fossil fuels were used by humans.
Since the peak of the current interglacial 7,000-4,000 years ago, there has been a long-term cooling trend with spikes of cooling and warming.
*THE LITTLE GREEN BOOK: For Ankle Biters is available from August 18 through Connor Court Publishing.
