Queensland Minister sets the record straight on Mt Beerwah closure

The emergence of past plans to close Mt Beerwah in the Glass House Mountains on the Sunshine Coast has sparked intense debate.

Yesterday, it was revealed, that climbing advocacy group Save Our Summit obtained documents through a Right to Information request suggesting the mountain be considered for permanent closure.

Today, Minister for the Environment and Tourism, Andrew Powell, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, “My response is that there will be categorically no closure to Mount Beerwah on a permanent basis, nor, for that matter, any other of the Glasshouse Mountain peaks or for that matter, any national park.”
