Queensland’s 2024 road toll hits 15-year high with over 300 lives lost
Queensland’s road toll in 2024 reached a 15-year high with a total of 302 lives lost across the year.
Of the 302 lives lost, eight of them were from people using e-scooters, e-skateboards or solo wheels.
Acting Superintendent Steve Newland told Shane Doherty on 4BC Summer Drive, “Within those 302 lives lost, we’re still seeing in about 95% of those cases at least one of the fatal five as a contributing factor.”
“That includes speeding, drink and drug driving, distraction, failing to wear a seatbelt and fatigue,” Acting Superintendent Newland continued.
