Rate hikes or service cuts: Jon Raven delivers Logan residents ultimatum

Logan City Council Mayor Jon Raven has stated it’s unaffordable to maintain parks, roads, and rubbish services.

The mayor has posted a video asking Logan rate-payers whether they would like to pay more for better services or have less services, but cheaper rates.

Logan Mayor Jon Raven told Bill McDonald on 4BC Mornings, “We experience the same inflation pressures that people do on their household budget.”

“Councils only collect $0.03 out of every dollar of tax that you pay, state collect $0.17 and the feds collect $0.80.”

“So, we really rely on the state and federal government in supporting us, especially with infrastructure spend and other areas like that,” Mayor Raven said.
