Refuge centres open in Ipswich as residents advised to ‘prepare now’ for flash flooding

Storms have been heading west through Ipswich and the Lockyer Valley as deluge continued in the aftermath of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, leading to flash flooding in the early hours of this morning.

Ipswich City Council has advised people to Prepare to leave as heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding across the Ipswich City Council Local Government Area continues.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding told Bill McDonald on 4BC’s Special Coverage “We are expecting a peak this afternoon from the BOM, so there will be flooding of homes and businesses.”
