Research reveals 40% of young Aussies don’t talk to anyone when worried
Luke is joined by Miranda Bain, the Director of Therapy Services at Act for Kids as Child Protection Week begins.
Act for Kids have commissioned some research which shows concerningly, 40% of young people aged 14-17 don’t talk to anyone when they’re worried, raising the risk of real mental health challenges.
They say 66% of young people worry about their appearance, 64% are worried about school and only 36% of young people said that their close adult always listens to them and surprisingly, the majority of young people want at least 1-2 hours a day with their close adult.
Act for Kids is encouraging adults to take simple steps to ‘Get Comfy Switching on by Switching off’ for the kids in their life, as thousands of young Australians experience significant mental health challenges.
