Researchers uncover misleading company behaviour during COVID-19 pandemic

Academics at the University of Melbourne, University of Sydney and University of New South Wales have published research that has uncovered some interesting findings relating to the behaviour of companies, and their CEOs during the global COVID-19 Pandemic.

Associate Professor at the University of Sydney, Danika Wright told Dean Miller on 4BC Summer Breakfast, “On average, CEOs who were taking big salary cuts actually had no decline in their entire compensation.”

“What CEOs were able to do was appear to be responding to that public outrage that we felt back in 2020 but they were able to use camouflaging to shift how they were being paid from salary to more opaque less transparent forms of pay,’ Wright continued.
