‘Signal’ App Is Safe, But Your Device Might Not Be

Phil O'Neil

Phil speaks with futurist Skeeve Stevens about Signal’s strong security. While the app itself is nearly impenetrable—even its operators can’t read messages—hacks can still happen by compromising user devices.

Signal is widely used by government officials, including White House staff under both Biden and Trump, with no known breaches. However, other messaging apps like Telegram, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger pose risks, often due to weak default security settings.

As a cybersecurity expert and ex-hacker, Stevens stresses that Signal isn’t the problem—it’s how secure your device is.
