South East Queensland the second most expensive place in Australia

South East Queensland is now a more expensive place to live than Melbourne.

South East Queenslanders are spending up to $20,000 more on essentials than Melbourne residents.

Yahoo consumer expert Joel Gibson told Luke Bradnam on 4BC Breakfast, “The key here is that state governments all around the country have been talking about building more homes for the past decade.”

“The only one that’s actually pulled their finger out and done it is the Victorian state government and what that’s done is it’s actually lowered the cost of housing, whether it’s rents or mortgages in Victoria compared to other states,” he said.

“It’s a lot cheaper to rent or to buy a home in Victoria than it is in South East Queensland,” Mr Gibson continued.
