Strong pent-up demand for small Volvo XC30 electric SUV
Volvo Australia in recent years has had extraordinary success with its medium
size XC40, the popular seven model SUV and Coupe range representing 50 per
cent of the company’s sales. However, interest in the smaller pure electric XC30
SUV due at year end is high with Volvo Australia already recording over 500 pre
orders. The XC30 priced from $59,990 plus on road costs is the company’s most
affordable electric car to date and its third electric model to reach Australia. There
will be three models in the Volvo XC30 range, two single motor rear drive and one
twin motor all-wheel drive – the latter capable of accelerating to 100km/hour in
just 3.6-seconds. Australia one of the first markets outside Europe to get the
XC30 Volvo Australia planning to go fully electric and ending the sale of petrol
models from 2026. I’m David Berthon
