The Fall of Singapore 80 years on

The fall of Singapore on February 15,1942 and the bombing of Darwin days later changed the landscape of our nation forever.

With British leader Winston Churchill and Australian Prime Minister John Curtin, the relationship between nations changed.

In mere days 22,000 Australians were in Japanese hands, 8000 would die. The news sent shock through the public, the threat of danger real as ever.

80 years on the world has changed but the memories of those days should not be forgot.

Senior historian from the Australian War Memorial Dr Lachlan Grant joins John to recount the events eight decades ago.
