The hidden dangers of reusing plastics

Luke Grant

Do you ever get takeaway for dinner and then keep the plastic container to pack your lunch for work or school the next day?

Or forget to bring your water bottle out with you, leading you to buy a plastic one, and just keep refilling it?

Experts warn reusing single-use plastic water bottles and reheating plastic food containers can shed micro- and nano-plastics into your meal and drink.

Some of these toxic chemicals have been linked to hormone disruption, fertility complications and elevated cancer risk.

Luke Grant chats with plastic pollution researcher and director of Project NePTWNE at Gannon University in the United States, Dr Sherri Mason to find out if you are at risk and how you can avoid consuming these chemicals.
