The hidden epidemic hurting 420,000 Aussies a year
The past week has been Wound Awareness Week.
The problem of wounds in Australia has been called a hidden epidemic with an approximate 420,000 Australians suffering from chronic wounds, estimated to cost them each more than $4000 a year to treat – nationally that’s more than $3 billion annually.
In addition to these financial costs, chronic wounds can be incredibly debilitating and painful, impacting a person’s health, finances and quality of life.
Hard to heal wounds require a thorough patient and wound assessment by a trained specialist.
