The Queensland first technology that could make pools safer than ever
Last year there were over 300 drowning deaths in Australia.
Interestingly, AI technology could be the answer to helping solve this issue.
New game-changing AI technology, which uses cameras to detect unusual movement in the pool, is about to be trialed at Gould Adams Park Aquatic Centre.
If someone is struggling, lifeguards get an instant alert on their smartwatch.
Logan Mayor Jon Raven told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, “What it does is it watch the pool areas, nowhere else inside the aquatic centre, and it means that every single tile in the pool has at least two cameras on it at all times.”
“Tragically, in 2016, when I was first elected as a Councillor, we actually had a fatality in one of our pools, and when we did the review, the witnesses said they saw the little girl playing with her parents just a couple of minutes beforehand, and then tragedy happened so quickly, this technology could have saved her life,” Mayor Raven said.
