‘There isn’t an economy need’: Hendra locals outraged over McDonald’s in residential area
A controversial proposal to build a McDonald’s in the middle of residential homes in Hendra has been approved by the Brisbane City Council.
However, residents are firmly against what would be an Australian first, since no fast food outlet has even been placed on a residential site.
Spokesperson for Hendra Locals Against McDonald’s, Bill Moore, told Bill McDonald on 4BC Mornings, “They’re talking about 180 car movements an hour, that’s a car every 20 seconds going in and out of that place.”
“All of the patrons that are leaving the property to get out and turn right, they’re going to be facing a queue of traffic that are waiting to get through the traffic lights.”
“It just seems absurd,” Mr. Moore said.
