‘Tough medicine’: LNP Government announces review into Queensland’s hospital building program
The Queensland Government has announced a review of the state’s hospital build program which is more than $13 billion over budget and with delays expected beyond 2028.
Could this lead to job cuts and what about the dire shortage of beds in our hospitals?
Infrastructure Partnerships Australia CEO Adrian Dwyer told Shane Doherty on 4BC Summer Drive, ‘two years ago, we warned the then Queensland Government that the program they announced could not be delivered on the schedule they said for the price they said.’
‘There was a bit of an admission around some cost overruns before the election but nothing like the scale of reality,’ Dwyer said.
‘The Health Minister to his credit has taken this on and said actually we need to know what’s under the bonnet, we need an independent look at this, we need to scrutinise it and they’ve hired some people to do that today so we welcome the announcement.’
