An eight year old girl is recovering after being attacked by a goanna while walking through a campground on South Stradbroke Island this week.

The lizard latched onto her foot and it took two people to pull it off her.

PhD student James Dobson from the University of Queensland Herpetology Society tells Mark unprovoked attacks by goannas are very rare.
