Australia is in mourning following the passing of former Deputy Prime Minister, diplomat, Vietnam veteran, author and train enthusiast Tim Fischer.

Mr Fischer lost his battle with an acute form of leukaemia aged 73.

He is being remembered fondly by all sides of politics.

Former Howard cabinet colleague Ian Macfarlane tells Mark that Tim Fischer could be eccentric but he always had the common touch.
