“We can’t risk our public health”: Moreton Bay park set to close due to safety concerns

It was announced that Gayundah Arboretum Park will close due to health and safety concerns, which will involve removing people experiencing homelessness at the site.

Moreton Bay Regional Council Acting Mayor Jodie Shipway told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, “Our community haven’t been able to use the space for quite some time, so we have had an increase in concerns raised.”

“The seriousness of those concerns has caused us to need a public health report on that area down there.”

“It was quite damning what we received back, so we were left with no choice other than to close the site and remediate it,” Acting Mayor Shipway continued.
