‘We will escalate’: Brisbane bus drivers threatens strike amid push for 9% pay rise
Brisbane bus drivers are threatening strike action amid their push for a 9 per cent pay rise over the next 2 years.
RTBU Secretary Tom Browne told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, “We are still at the bottom of the food chain.”
“To talk about our performance, since 50 Cent Fares came in, patronage is up nearly 20% on the buses,” Mr. Browne said.
Peter Fegan raised the issue that some front-line workers are getting paid less than bus drivers at their current rate and Mr. Browne responded, ‘Well, I would argue with you on that, that we’re not saving lives because the more buses on the road, the less cars and the less cars on the road, the more lives are saved.”
