Clinton Maynard is joined by Ian Henschke, Chief Advocate for National Seniors Australia, for his thoughts on Labor’s aged care policies and today’s planned walkout by aged care workers in South Australia, Western Australia & Queensland.

If elected, Labor has promised more carers and that every aged care facility will be required to have a registered, qualified nurse on site, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Also discussed is today’s planned walkout by aged care workers in South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland which National Seniors Australia says could have been avoided if the government had adopted a plan to get more seniors back into the workforce.

Australia’s peak consumer and advocacy organisation for older Australians has stepped up its ‘Let Pensioners Work’ campaign which it says would benefit sectors such as aged care.

Mr Henschke says, “If politicians in Canberra would give the plan a go to let pensioners work in vital sectors such as aged care, without financial penalty there would be more aged care workers available.”
