Woolies drought package call leaves dairy farmers hanging

Challenges to the long-term sustainability of the dairy industry are being highlighted, as Woolworths prepares to end its drought-relief program.

The 10-cent levy on it’s supermarket-branded milk, will still be paid to farmers until the end of June, but high input costs are causing concern.

Rural Editor Sophie Clarke caught up with EastAUSmilk Chief Executive Shaughn Morgan to hear his thoughts on the situation, and about other assurances, he says, need to be put in place.
