Police have had a busy start to the week after a spate of car thefts and break-in attempts across the south-east.

Senior 9News reporter Tim Arvier told 4BC Breakfast six teenagers have been arrested in less than 24 hours over two separate incidents.

Two teenagers were charged yesterday afternoon after allegedly stealing luxury cars, taking them on a joyride and bragging about their crime spree online.

The first was a V8 Land Cruiser Series 300 worth around $200,000, which was taken from Bridgeman Downs.

A $500,000 Bentley was also taken from a home in Benowa on Sunday night. The owner told 9News he was asleep in bed when the keys were stolen from his bedside table.

“[They] drove them in a convoy, filming it all, putting it on social media, up to around Taringa, where police tried to get the road spikes out,” Tim said.

“Unfortunately, that wasn’t successful and they were finally arrested over on the northside at Everton Hills.”

The chase finally came to an end in Everton Hills when the alleged perpetrators drove into a shopping centre and were cornered by police.

A 16-year-old boy from Stafford and 16-year-old girl from Chermside were charged with a raft of offences including unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Tim said two 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old were arrested just before 4am this morning, busted attempting to break into houses and cars in St Lucia.

“Also I’ve been told there were another two stolen cars in Brisbane’s western suburbs, which are still outstanding.”
