Police fatally shoot alleged gunman after six-hour siege

A man has died in police custody after a siege in southern Brisbane yesterday.
Officers were called to a disturbance at a Stretton business just after 1pm, where they were confronted by a 48-year-old man allegedly armed with a firearm.
Nearby streets and businesses were evacuated as negotiators attempted to speak with the man.
The matter came to an end after six hours when the man allegedly raised his gun at officers and was shot.
He was rushed to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, but died a short time later.
Five people who were inside the premises at the time weren’t injured.
The Ethical Standards Command is investigating.
