Joan Taufua has been charged with three counts of manslaughter over a Gold Coast Hinterland crash that left three people dead.

Ms Taufua, the mother of Broncos star Payne Haas, was charged by police with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade police and drive without a driver’s license.

The 46-year-old remains in hospital under police guard.

Meanwhile, the daughter of the woman who died in the crash says she feels like she’s living a nightmare.

Susan Zimmer and her daughter Stephanie, as well as her husband Chris Fawcett, died at the scene of the crash in Bonogin on Friday.

Susan’s devastated daughter Claudine Snow paid tribute to her mother, a Gold Coast local “through and through” and the best grandmother.

“She was the most capable, amazing woman,” she told Peter Fegan, filling in on 4BC Mornings.

“She was my best friend, we spoke every day.”

Ms Snow said she is now beginning the harrowing process of planning three funerals.

Ms Snow thanked the emergency services on scene, and those who she has dealt with in the days after.

“The support I have received from QPS has been amazing,” she said.

Acting Chief Superintendent Chris Stream said the female driver has refused an interview with police.

“I can confirm that officers offered the female driver an interview, the driver has refused to participate in an interview and an investigation is ongoing,” he told Peter Fegan.
