The public has increased pressure on the government to prevent the early release of ‘playboy rapist’ Simon Monteiro.
Monteiro has served 10 years of his 12-year sentence for raping and bashing a former girlfriend.
Monteiro was granted parole last week despite psychiatrists concluding he could re-offend, leaving his victims terrified.
Acting Corrections Minister, Mark Speakman, tells Mark Levy they are considering an appeal.
“The State put in a very strong submission that he shouldn’t be released. The State Parole Authority has decided to the contrary.
“When we get the transcripts and the reasons, we’ll look at all avenues for appeal.”
Mr Speakman says a decision about whether or not to appeal will me make by next week.
