‘Pretty daunting’: Optus customers receive threatening texts
Victims of the Optus data breach have started receiving a text message purportedly from hackers, demanding $2000 or their data will be sold off.
Around 9.8 million Aussies had their information breached in the cyber hack.
Amanda, an Optus customer, received a ransom text last night.
“The text scam through last night, just after I was doing school pick-up and it was pretty daunting when it came in,” she told Neil Breen.
She contacted Crime Stoppers, who advised her to make a report with ScamWatch.
