Price of the classic meat pie surges as global shortage of wheat hits

The price of the classic meat pie has increased as a global shortage of wheat hits consumers.
General Manager of Yatala Pies, Susan Porter, told Scott Emerson the price of a standard meat pie will increase to $6.40, and was due to a number of factors.
“We’ve seen the vegetables, and meat, the margarine and of course the diesel cost going up,” she said on 4BC Drive.
“Earlier this year, we did in March, see an increase in our meat prices, and we have passed that on to the consumer.”
