Prime Minister Scott Morrison takes a swipe at Malcolm Turnbull over Bali conference
The Prime Minister has confirmed Malcolm Turnbull will have no future role to play under his government following the controversial Bali oceans conference.
Mr Turnbull was sent as Australia’s representative, despite being dumped as PM and resigning from politics more than two months earlier.
Whilst in Bali he publicly contradicted several of the government’s policies, most notably on moving Australia’s embassy in Israel.
Scott Morrison tells Alan Jones his predecessor will not be called upon again.
“I’ve got the report back from his visit.
“He was there to actually attend an oceans conference. The issues of trade and other things were not really part of the brief.
“I’m always going to act with respect towards previous prime ministers, regardless of who they are.
“But I do think the exemplar of previous prime ministers, about how they go about thing post; on our side of politics it’s obviously John Howard and on the Labor party side it’s Julia Gillard.
Alan explicitly asked if Mr Turnbull would be representing Australia again.
“Will there be more missions for this man to be able to go to and sprout his own discredited views?”
“No,” says the Prime Minister.
He’s also acutely aware of Mr Turnbull ‘liking’ social media posts belittling his government, but tells Alan it doesn’t bother him.
“Yeah I’m aware of it but I just brush it off.”

40 children remain on the Pacific island and will be gradually be brought to Australia for medical treatment
But Scott Morrison maintains the refugees will not be settled here.
“Children have been transferred off Nauru. That’s been happening for some time.
“I haven’t been showboating about it, I haven’t been drawing attention to it. It’s being done in accordance with our policies, our existing policies.”
