A humbled North Queensland Cowboys hooker Reuben Cotter will make his debut in the Kangaroos squad for the rugby league World Cup.

The 23-year-old is one of 13 debutants in the squad.

He said he’s excited, and grateful for the big opportunity.

“It’s a pretty prestigious moment, and a proud moment for me and my family,” he told Peter Psaltis from Manchester.

He said the history and the height of the occasion isn’t lost on him.

“It’s important to talk about that but now it’s our turn to create history and we’ve got a special group of boys to do that with, and we are looking forward to that.”
