Psalty’s idea to ‘add a little bit of extra spice’ to the NRL comp
Peter Psaltis has been sitting on an idea for the NRL for a while now.
And with the Dolphins joining the league in 2023, the time is right to share his pitch.
Four clubs, one shield: the competition within the competition.
“The Queensland-based NRL clubs play for their own trophy,” he said on Wide World of Sports.
“They all play each other twice, so I think the time has come to play for their own trophy.
“One shield at the end of the season for the winner of all the games between the Queensland clubs.”
Psalty said the mini competition would present a solid opportunity to honour a Queensland player.
“But it has to be someone who hasn’t played for any of those clubs but is a great for Queensland and Australian rugby league.
“I think that would be a great way to honour someone of the past, but I think it would add a little bit of extra spice.”
