Pub owner’s extraordinary measure to thwart WA flood looters
A regional pub in Western Australia has made the heartbreaking decision to destroy all of its alcohol supply after widespread flooding.
The Crossing Inn in Fitzroy Crossing was one of many establishments that went underwater when ex-tropical cyclone Ellie swept across the region.
Its owner, Kandula Herat told Dan Nolan on 4BC Summer Drive that while everyone is facing a huge clean-up, looters have only made things worse.
“The local police and the community members, elders have been very helpful and are straight away jumping on the people that are doing this thing,” he said.
“In the end, we made a call and went there to destroy all the alcohol. The thing is, we need to stop this alcohol going to the community.”
